How to live a more spiritual life without fear

Posted in Trust The Universe, and Uncategorized

Are you holding back from developing your most powerful gifts and abilities because you’re afraid of them?

I was really frightened of my spirituality and my spiritual abilities. The exact nature of these fears was unclear and they would show up only fleetingly, at the very edge of my awareness, or in my nightmares. I guess I somehow felt that by opening up, I would be taken over by bad spirits. Yes, that was the crux of my terror. That by opening a window into the unknown, a host of evil energies would either pull me away into their world or kill me.

Six years ago I had a very full-on dream where I did battle with some nasty spirits that were trying to take over my home. I saw me and my family sitting on the floor in a circle and as a whooshing darkness surrounded us, I shouted for us to all hold hands and command the spirits to leave.  I felt them pulling us into their spinning vortices as we shouted in unison for goodness to prevail. We won the battle and I woke up feeling shaken and exhausted.

What was this? Are dark forces real? And if so, can they actually take us over or kill us?

I don’t have proper answers to these questions and I don’t care so much anymore because the one thing I’ve discovered, is that by owning not just our spiritual gifts but all of our special abilities more fully, we no longer fall prey to the fear that we’ll lose control of them.

Since those days of fearing my own spiritual awareness, I’ve worked very hard at cultivating my intuitive discernment and at raising my energetic vibration. I believe these two powerful qualities, discernment and purity of energetic frequency are the keys to feeling safe in a more expanded spiritual and creative existence.

When we’re strong in our self-belief and fully integrated in our gifts, whatever they may be, we get to choose how and when they’re used and nothing can encroach on that sovereignty.

Let me tell you how:

  • First we must meditate and I mean do it every day
  • We must seek out moments of silence and reflection at other times of the day as well
  • We must begin cutting away the inputs that distress us and lower our vibration, at least until we can handle them with more detachment. Eg. the ‘news’, violent entertainment, harmful relationships, damaging substances…
  • Pretty soon, we don’t need to make any effort to avoid negative content because when we come across it, we feel only compassion for all concerned and it doesn’t send us down the rabbit hole of thinking the whole world’s gone to hell.

These are the actions that will raise your energetic vibration:

  • Being in nature alone and feeling your true feelings
  • Purifying your thoughts with gentle, compassionate corrections and ceasing identifying with negativity and criticism
  • Improving what you put in your body in the way of foods and fluids but mostly letting go of the judgement of food unless you know there is a definite incompatibility with your physiology
  • Paying attention to your breath and making a practice of taking a few longer, deeper breaths every few minutes
  • Moving your body when it tells you it wants to move, resting when you need to and making a dear friend of your physical self because it’s craving your approval and care
  • Ceasing over-responsibility for the spiritual growth of other people. This is just a distraction from you taking full responsibility for your own path. The people who need your help will ask for it.

This all goes towards freeing us up to begin expressing our version of spiritual awareness and creative liberation to the world. It might take the form of writing a novel, becoming an artist, volunteering in the community, creating an environmental action group, becoming a business owner, becoming a healer, trying a new sport, becoming a better listener or being more patient…

This isn’t about beginning to preach to anyone, feeling superior or making any proclamations of heightened divinity. It’s just about stepping with more confidence and freedom into our God-given gifts. Got it?

You may not be in fear of dark spirits invading your consciousness but I’ll bet you’re afraid of something. Otherwise, you’d already be living that dream-life, wouldn’t you?

Upgrade Your Persist-ability – Guided Process

Posted in Live Your Passions

We all need to persist sometimes don’t we?  Just getting through an average day requires a certain level of persistence for us all. How good are you at persisting though, when life just keeps handing you barriers, obstacles and brick walls?

This is called resistance.

And it’s not necessarily so that life is telling you to stop, turn back or give up.

No no.

This is simply you pushing and leaning into the winds of change within yourself and life is holding you accountable for your choices.

Do you really want this new phase to commence? Are you ready? Are you willing to let go of your old ways?

Because sometimes we’re not ready are we?

In the process of creating my yin2you dance and meditation class I’ve encountered so many speed humps, road blocks and potholes, any mentally sane person would have given up years ago.

yep, the road's been a bit rocky.
yep, the road’s been a bit rocky.

But you see, I have a different perspective, and it comes from being in a state of one hundred percent trust in my intuition.  My heart just keeps telling me I need to dance and I need to share the healing benefits of dance with the world.

So I persist.

And what I also understand is that all the resistance I’ve come across is simply signifying that what I’m creating is going to be mind blowingly HUGE!  Plus, it’s been so far out of my comfort zone that I’ve needed this whole convoluted ‘stop/start, re-jig it completely, change venues, change the format, change the name’ process (that’s taken four years so far), for me to get more and more comfy with embodying the role of custodian of this offering.

I’m growing into yin2you as I create it.  It’s growing out of me and it’s taking me onto a whole new path.

Cause you know, some things we do are just so much bigger than ourselves….they need to be brought forth and we are simply the conscious vehicle perfectly suited to being the teacher/channel/leader for them.

What dream or desire do you have smoldering away in your heart that needs a little stoking up right now?

What have you tried and given up on that you might need to rekindle?

It’s all about fire isn’t it?

Here’s a little process you can do to strengthen your persistence and build the fire in your belly for moving forward with your passionately conceived projects.  Click below to listen…

I hope you enjoyed the guided audio.  For more help with developing your persistence and commitment to your dreams and desires please contact me for a session. Click here for more info…

When You Dream You Create Reality

Posted in Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

Do you have a dream?

I’ve got a stack of them and as one dream comes to fruition, another one emerges to take it’s place.  This is what I call, living in flow with all that life desires for you.

One of my dreams is to one day build my own (our own)  home by the beach, I’m not sure when this one will happen, but based on how my life’s expanded and flowed for the past few years, I reckon it might happen sooner rather than later.

In the meantime I’m happy with where I’m at and making the most of my current home.  I can let that dream go for now and trust that it will be delivered in divine timing.

“How does she get to be so relaxed and confident?” I hear you ask.

Well, I’m not all the time, nowhere near.  It’s just that since I learned how to follow my inner guidance a few years back, I’m finding it easier and easier to imagine my dream life, write it down, feel it, see it in my mind’s eye and then let it go with a request to the universe:

“…This, or something EVEN BETTER please”

What I’m also hearing some of you say is: “Dreams? I don’t have time for dreams, I wouldn’t even know where to start.

That’s how I felt before I began this journey and I understand how you feel.  Life can feel overwhelming, especially if you are over-committed to caring for children, running your career, caring for an elderly family member or if you’re stuck in the emotional quagmire of having stress, worry, resentment, responsibility or boredom as your daily emotional default.

You just need to make space to imagine and dream… like you did when you were a child.  It’s okay to fantasise and make-believe.  When we have a dream and visit it often in our imagination in a joyful and expectant way, we’re sending an order out to the universe saying:

“Hello universe, here’s what I like, this is what makes my heart sing and feels in resonance with my soul”

And universe, or as I sometimes like to call it, life, responds by edging us ever so slightly closer to that imagined reality.  Of course the speed is actually up to us.  If we believe it can happen overnight and feel rapid change is something we and our families can handle then that can be what occurs.

The main point here is, you won’t get if you don’t ask.

The other point is that although life actually does want us to be happy, we over-ride the natural flow of this when we think we are stuck in doubt, fear and confusion about what we really want.

I realise it can be hard to break those patterns of feeling over-burdened and lacking in inspiration, courage and optimism.  It’s a process worth beginning though, as we all have the potential within us to break free of those old patterns and begin to really enjoy life.

Dreams That Resonate

Posted in Live Your Passions

Do you have a dream?

Is there a collection of desires, yearnings and if-onlys tucked away deep in your heart that you only look at or listen to every now and then?

Yes, of course there is.

What I’d love to share with you today is that it’s worthwhile paying closer attention to these dreams and spending some time sorting through what feels real, right and absolutely in resonance with your deeper self and what is mere folly and illusion.

fading rainbow dreams
fading rainbow dreams

Why? I hear you ask.

Well, what I’ve discovered is that some of these so-called dreams are actually mis-creations or remnants from many different sources, not all of them reliable and up-to-date with where we are on our life journey.

Let me describe the various sources from whither our dreams can spring:

  • Childhood versions of ourselves – I used to think I needed to own a horse to be happy
  • Our parents – How many people live their parents’ dreams for them regarding career, choice of marriage partner and where they live?
  • Our culture – Is the standard middle-class existence of sky-high mortgage, private schooling and the latest high-tech gadgets really equating to true fulfillment, joy and peace?
  • Our early adulthood belief system that we think we created independently but didn’t – That semi-rebellious stage of life where we believe we are throwing out everything our parents and society taught us but actually we’re just postponing it’s return until we hit 30.
  • Or if you were more like me… what I thought I needed to do in my twenties was hedge my bets; continue to be a good girl AND muddle, trip and stumble through the myriad choices and responsibilities I faced with some sense of autonomy and originality.

Anyway, it’s all a bit of a mish-mash wouldn’t you say?

Now in my forties, every day I’m playing with the question; what do I want here, today, tomorrow? Granted, I’m in the super-fortunate position where I have plenty of choice and oodles of freedom.  So I guess that makes me a dream-sorting expert. Well, kind of.

What I’m noticing is how fast things are changing for us all at this time in our evolution.  What I desire for my life this week is actually quite different to last week and very different from a year ago.  But this isn’t about being fickle or flakey.

It’s about tuning into the deeper self and refining, sifting, prioritising.

Drop into that place now….breathe slowly, visualise a pearl descending from your throat area down into the heart space where it floats suspended in a soft white/pink light.

Ask into that light, “where is my joy?”.  You might see, hear or feel a response, you might not.  If nothing comes then expect the information to come to you in a different form.  Be aware of this expectation for the rest of the day and notice the clues that present themselves to you.  The universe is very creative.

We can really tie ourselves – and those around us – up in knots with regard to what we think we need in order to be happy.  What I’m discovering is that the most important things to me right now are; good health, creative expression, close relationships with my family, time to spend with friends, opportunities to help others, being in nature and quiet time on my own.

Throw in the occasional glass of bubbly, a meal out somewhere and a good television show, art exhibition or novel and I’m ecstatic!

When your dreams resonate, they manifest oh so smoothly.

Getting On With Life

A winter-flowering Silver Princess. The Silver Princess Essence helps to clarify life purpose and direction

I’ve felt a strong sense of ‘getting on with things‘ happening for me in the last couple of weeks.

Anyone else feeling an increase in their momentum, a gentle push forward, an encouraging pull from up ahead?

Since deciding to run my first ever dance class for women and taking action to make it happen, like booking a venue and getting help from my lovely designer Lou to put a flyer together (Aahh! Am I really doing this?!!), other aspects of my life have started to flow better too.

It feels as though now that I am truly doing what my heart desires, the universe, my spiritual supporters and my own inner self are rushing forward to support me and keep me on track.

I feel stronger and healthier in my body, I am more peaceful and easy-going and I feel a strong sense that creating this dance class is an important door to step through along my life’s pathway.

I am still loving seeing clients in my work as intuitive counsellor, kinesiologist and flower essence practitioner.  It feels as though there will now be three components to my working life: Individual client work, dance teaching and writing.  They will all fit together and flow and mingle as my fully expressed, uniquely ‘Tricia Woods’ life.

Many of the women I meet in my practice have an unexpressed inner yearning to do something (usually creative or artistic) in their lives that they are afraid to do.  I’ve been afraid to be a dancer, even though it is one of the first words I have always used to describe myself in private.

I return yet again to the way our children are who they are.  They just are!!

Perhaps by looking into our hearts and feeling into what we loved doing or being as a child, we can reveal our true purpose?

Try this as a meditation and see what comes up.  These deep truths really can set us free because when we do what comes naturally, all of life feels that much easier and sweeter.

If I Weren’t Afraid I Would…

A rainbow after the storm in Dunsborough June 2012

Like my rainbow? I love how it looks like the rainbow is supporting the grey cloud and the blue sky is protected underneath. Here’s another…

Beautiful rainbow colours

Well, the second half of the year has begun,  and don’t underestimate the power of June becoming July to jump-start your goals for the remainder of 2012.

With the solstices (winter down here in the southern hemisphere and summer up there where the majority of humans dwell), occurring the week before last, comes a New Year feeling in terms of the energetic influence they bring.

Here in Australia we are welcoming the gradual lengthening of our daylight hours and the accompanying increases in energy, motivation and productivity, in place until our summer solstice in December.  Hey, I need some of this because June turned out to be just as slow and unproductive for me as May was.

Although I know we need that time of turning inward, rest, reflection, processing and planning, I just don’t enjoy it.

So with that early winter shedding of the old and outdated, over and done with, I’m feeling ready to move forward and create!

This is a wonderful time of the year to begin new projects, revive old ones that need joojshing and move ahead with your life in general.

I recently confessed to a friend that what I really want to do now is create a dance class for women in my local community.  Wow!  That was easier than I thought.

I’ve had the dream of dancing with other women in a style of my own creation to healing music, for a couple of years.  Sharing it with my dear friend felt a little scary, but with her loving encouragement plus allowing myself to sit with it for a week, it feels completely natural to be writing about it here now.

It’s reminded me of an exercise the amazing Sonia Choquette gets people to take themselves through when they are in need of remembering what they love the most in life and what they would like to do with their lives.

She says, “Ask yourself this question: If I weren’t afraid I would….? and fill in the blank”

Sonia recommends doing this over and over again to see what comes up into your mind most strongly and most often.

For me, the answer most consistently and actually quite patiently as been “dance”.

So, it feels as though the time is right for me to move forward with this dream and make it happen.  I’m very nervous and unsure about how it will unfold, but I’m feeling ready to explore, trust and open up to whatever comes.

Perhaps you are ready to pose this question to yourself?

Enjoy the lengthening days!

Love and laughter,

Tricia

A Story of Perserverance

Posted in Create Abundance, Live From Intuition, Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

The Kapok Bush Essence combats apathy and resignation

I have a little story to tell.

Once upon a time there was a young woman who didn’t know who she really was.

She loved learning and spent a lot of time earning qualifications. Then she had two children and her whole life changed.

She immersed herself in motherhood and learned a lot about patience, frustration, control, anger and most of all, love.

Little by little, year by year she slowly realised there was a quiet little voice inside her wanting to be heard.  The little voice whispered;

You are good”

“You are creative”

“You are loved and supported more than you will ever know”

“Only you know what is good for you and how you might be happy”

“You are the power in your own life.  Dream, imagine, follow your heart and take the first step”

The woman took some steps which felt random and ill-conceived at first.  She took some short courses that sounded like fun.  She booked herself  a place in the first weekend of a year-long course in kinesiology and thought she would see how it felt.

She dreamed of being an artist, a writer and living with her family in the country.

Along the way she made meditation a daily practice and found a yoga class she loved.  She made new friends and learned to live much more from her heart than her head.

The woman learned to look after herself as a priority and other women came to see her to help them with healing and balance in their lives.  She felt the urge to begin writing down her story and two years later she hesitantly at first, called it a book.

She told her family she wanted to move to the country and they struck out to explore Margaret River as a potential home.  When this didn’t pan out she sighed and cried and then let it go and planned a house move locally.

Another two and a half years later she is sitting at a desk in her home in Dunsborough writing this blog.  Her children are thriving in their new home, her husband is humming as he moves through the house. His sense of humour has returned.  Young women with babies and toddlers are coming to see her for healing and guidance.  She has woken up in this new life and feels so blessed.

Looking back she can now see how the last ten years were slowly but inexorably carrying her to this moment.

It’s the same for us all.  Patience and surrender play big roles but if there is a powerful dream in your heart, keep it alive, feed it and know that when we make ourselves happy in each moment, we are less attached to the “big stuff” we want.

For me, this detachment from my ultimate dream helped me to be curious, not overly concerned about events last year that at first made me feel like we were being dragged further away, not closer to the outcome I sought.

I think I read this in one of Neale Donald Walsch’s books: “You take care of the what, God takes care of the how“.

Persistence and acceptance balanced together.

A lovely Monday to you all,

Tricia
