How important is it for you to have a clear plan and sense of purpose each day?

Do you seek structure, routine and responsibility to help you to feel safe, supported and worthwhile?

Has it occurred to you though, that the very structures, rules and conventions of a ‘normal life’, might actually be holding you back from real achievement and fulfillment?

Let’s peel back a layer or two and have a close look at what we create in order to feel safe.

I used to think my value as a person was completely enveloped in what I did, created and achieved.  Who would I be if not for my qualifications, job title, relationship with another or earning capacity?

Who indeed?

My working life before I had children was a complex web of illusion and projection with regard to who I thought it made me.  And then becoming a mother I was gifted a new role I could cling to like a flimsy raft on the ocean of uncertainty that is real life.

But when we peel away all the roles and concepts of who we are that are bound up in serving others, keeping others happy or protecting our own fragile ego, who are we?

Scary isn’t it?

The older I get, the less I am distinctly this ‘me’ I once thought I was.  It’s at once a return to who we were as little children and also a complete release from all that we have evolved into from the moment we were conceived in flesh and blood.

It’s a coming home to the soul’s desires.

When we connect with simple pleasure to what we most love doing and we surrender to our own inner song and rhythm, we melt into this new type of existence that demands less of us and more of us at the same time.

The demands of maintaining false-feeling beliefs, protective facades and self-deluding roles are lessened.

The demands of being truthful, authentic, patient, generous and loving to ourselves and ALL others are increased.

So please…let me lay it on the table nice and simply.

Spend more time every day doing what you love and sooner or later, you will feel that ALL you are doing every day is what you love.

So hold on people, I’m not suggesting you quit your job, go on strike from household or family responsibilities or drop everything and disappear into the wilderness….

What I AM saying is that when you spend even 30 minutes each day engaged in something that is your passion and absolute pleasure to do, you make yourself happier and then all the other stuff that needs to be taken care of doesn’t seem like such a burden anymore.

This is where I began eight years ago and my evidence for how this simple-sounding act can change your life is the blessed life I have now where I get to choose my daily activities and spend more and more time doing what I love.

Having no set plans for a day ahead used to make me feel anxious and unimportant, now it feels like a precious gift of freedom and creative possibility.

My sweet husband bought me a fancy new camera for my birthday last week and yesterday, I followed my intuition and devoted an hour in the middle of the day to wandering around a local patch of forest looking for native orchids to photograph.  There weren’t many orchids out yet, but it felt really magical to just be on my own in the bush taking it all in and enjoying the silence of my mind.  This for me, is bliss.

I realise that for some of you, even knowing what your passions are feels like a puzzle because you’ve been separated from that deeper experience of yourself for quite a while.  It’s okay, help is here:

Four Steps to Finding Your Passions

  1. Meditate each day to get in touch with your deeper self.
  2. Spend some time journaling or talking to someone close to you about what you loved doing as a child.
  3. Ask the universe for guidance and begin noticing what activities you feel most drawn to you that gradually begin presenting themselves via emails, suggestions from friends, invitations and community newspapers and notice boards.
  4. Try something new or pick up an old hobby but most of all be open to new experiences and approach them all with fun and lightness in your heart.

Alternatively, make a booking with me and I’ll provide you with my intuitive guidance to assist you in gaining true clarity about your natural gifts and talents.  Click here for more information...

Sorry, I’m a Recovering People Pleaser – The Five Signs

Posted in Live Your Passions

Ever get the feeling you’ve moved into a whole new territory in your life and it doesn’t feel all that comfortable?

It’s possibly been a while, maybe years even, but some time ago I realised just doing something because it would keep everyone else in my life happy, rather than doing it cos I wanted to was really not a great way to live.

Thing is though. It might sound more desirable to not care what others think and just be really focused on being true to ourselves and our own needs, but living it is not that simple, is it?

And you know I’m not talking about becoming a completely selfish and self-centred “b” word. I’m just saying it’s better in life to be clear about what works for us in terms of how we serve others and how we choose to spend our time. There is absolutely no value in running around doing for others and becoming just a teensy bit resentful in the process, if it’s not meeting our own needs in some way.

Okay, I’ll stop being vague and theoretical. Here’s an example:

Just the other day I received one of those sweet but slightly annoying Facebook chain messages (they used to come via email) from someone I genuinely like and admire. I appreciated the sentiments in the message and don’t doubt the sincerity of the person who sent it. But you know what? I can’t bring myself to pass these message on to the requisite number of people as instructed. Call me lazy, stubborn or mean, I just can’t do it.

IMG_1548

Okay, here’s a confession: I have never participated in an email recipe sharing chain. There, I’ve said it.

And even though this isn’t the first time I’ve faced this dilemma, I wrestled with the decision for quite some time before letting it go.

Why? I hear you ask.

Well it’s because I love being liked and I hate receiving disapproval, even if it’s only imagined disapproval and the actual person never even expresses it to me. I regularly make the assumption that people think I’m awful for not complying one hundred percent to their expectations.

Is it just me that does this?

So to everyone I know and love, I’ll say it right here…I’m sorry if I accidentally offend or upset you by not doing what you expect or desire me to do.

I’m sorry but I’m also not sorry because it’s about time people like me stopped storing resentment and guilt like hidden badges of honour because we go out of our way to make sure we are liked in favour of protecting our own happiness and health.

“To thine own self be true.” – William Shakespeare

No sure if you’re a people pleaser?  Here’s five signs you might need a re-think on how you handle requests from others:

  1. You find yourself saying yes to invitations and requests when your inner voice is screaming “NO!”
  2. Your life is too busy to make time for exercise, relaxation and fun.
  3. You find yourself feeling annoyed when people for ask you for help.
  4. You feel as though your efforts to help others aren’t really acknowledged or appreciated.
  5. You often spend time worrying about whether you’ve said or done the right thing after spending time with friends and family.

If you answered, ‘yep’, to four out of five of these signs, then I would say you’re a natural born people pleaser. Do not fear though, help is at hand.

Simply begin pausing before you say yes, tune into your inner self and make sure this is really what, you want to do. And secondly, release the fear of disapproval.  Your true friends and close family will still love you and they may even admire you more if you say no now and again.

A Guided Audio to Bring You Home to You

Posted in Live Your Passions

When I cast my mind back to when my children were a lot younger and I was a lot more tense and stressed, I remember often feeling that whatever I was doing, it wasn’t what I wanted to be doing.

My internal dialogue went something like this:

I don’t want to be hanging washing right now.  I wish I didn’t have so much washing to do. What’s that noise?  Where is that little one? Oh no, she’s gotten into the kitchen cupboard. Why do I always get interrupted?  I’d better go inside and stop her from pulling everything out.  Oh, look at the time, it’s almost kindy pick-up time and I needed to get to the shops….”

And so on and so on.

I felt that I was always running from one task to another and not achieving very much.  A few different stories were running regarding how I was evaluating my own worth as a mother and housekeeper and then there was this whole other perspective to do with thinking things simply should be different than what they were.

I wanted to do things methodically, calmly, within my time frames and with no interruptions.  That was how it worked much of the time I was in the paid workforce.  Why wasn’t it happening now?

For many of us, motherhood is the time of our lives we’ve dreamed of being in.

It was for me and then, although I completely adored my children and found being with them mostly enjoyable and fulfilling, there was another part of me that found it hard to be fully present with them and embrace the unpredictability and’ busy-work’ they brought to my life.

Also, what I didn’t understand about myself in those early years was that I still needed to make time for myself every day and to learn more about how I could seek out small pockets of time to do the things that made my heart sing.

What ended up saving my sanity was meditation.  I made the time to sit and meditate for thirty minutes each day while my children had their afternoon sleep.  It wasn’t easy to do at first but the results were so immediate that I knew it was worth sticking with.

I’ve created a little ten minute audio for you this week to guide you into a deeper awareness of what it is to be fully present with yourself and to help you define a passion or natural talent that lifts your spirits and may end up leading you into your next career or hobby.

I absolutely love helping women get to know themselves and their natural talents and passions better. Take a look here to learn more…

Enjoy the recording and enjoy your day, whatever it may bring.

Activate Your Creativity and Stop the Yearning

Posted in Live Your Passions

We yearn for things, don’t we?

That house: “If I lived there, I’d be truly happy

Her hair/figure/face: “If I looked like that, I wouldn’t have a care in the world

A partner more…you know, just better than the one we have: “If my partner was more romantic/caring/wealthy/sensitive/sexy/all of the above, I would be so much more content

But what if, now stay with me here…What if all of these imagined ideal people, things and scenarios were just signposts, metaphors if you like, for what’s missing within ourselves?

What would that mean?

Let me put it to you like this:

You don’t need much of what you think you need to be happy in this life of yours

The things you desire, want and yearn for are simply invitations to look within yourself and create a life more authentically you from the inside out.

Here’s some evidence: I’m not sure if you’ve noticed this, but how many times have you gotten that new yearned-for thing and then after a fairly brief period of elation, joy and fulfillment, you go back to feeling the way you did before you had it and you begin yearning for something else?

It’s happened to me many times and I’m telling you, it’s better to look within and discover ways you can creatively express yourself in the world.

Find that fulfillment and enjoyment in your work, creative pursuits or in being of service to others rather than turning your attention to the next new purchase, relationship or holiday.

Enough with the writing…

Gift yourself ten minutes now to listen to this very nice guided meditation for activating your creative centre; your sacral chakra.  I recorded it just the other day down by the ocean and the sounds of the water are quite beautiful.

When Everything Looks Bad – Celebrate!

Posted in Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

Madonna got it right all those years ago when she sang that we are living in a material world. I’m not an especially ‘material girl’ and yet I can look back to my later twenties and early thirties when I had myself convinced that if only I had…

  • That car
  • That house in that neighbourhood
  • That job
  • That dress, etc, etc…

then and only then would I be completely happy and satisfied. And then…

I got some of the things I desired and guess what, I still wasn’t happy.

Everyone knows happiness comes from within and what I’m discovering is that it’s a lifelong process to build the deep sense of self-love and trust in life necessary to truly live it in every moment.

Being in nature makes me deeply happy. My lifestyle honours this.
Being in nature makes me deeply happy. My lifestyle honours this.

We can be distracted from living our true and natural expression in the world when we think we need something outside of ourselves to be complete.  And that includes other people. The trick is to be less attached to all of it and realise that we are always making progress towards a better life.  That’s just how we’re designed. Here’s some wisdom I’ve picked up along the way and I’ve shared with many of my beautiful clients:

“Just when you’re feeling like everything in your life is truly crappy and you feel you’ve really messed it up.  When you feel you’re in the wrong relationship, wrong job, that you’re the worst mother ever or that you’ve not made any progress in your personal growth at all….Celebrate!  Yes, that’s right, celebrate because everything you’ve been asking for (provided you’ve been asking) is about to begin flowing your way.”

Honestly, I’ve experienced this time and time again in my own life and I’ve heard many a client say it’s been their experience too.

The night is darkest before the dawn (old proverb)

It seems that just before we shift, life hands us all we’ve been labeling as wrong, substandard, flawed or broken in our lives in an exaggerated, soap opera-style series of happenings as if to give us one final look before we let it all go.

The key to capitalising from these endings when they show up is to acknowledge them as such and not feel attached to how they make you feel.  To be able to step back and view the upset from an objective stand-point is a sure sign you’re ready for something different.

When it comes to the material things we would like to have in our lives, because yes, it’s okay to want stuff, the same process applies.  The moment we give up on getting something we’ve been dreaming of and let it go, or simply hold the perspective in all matters that all we need and want flows to us effortlessly, it often comes to fruition with very little effort.

The point I’m trying to pull together here is that it’s all one energy and all one outcome.  Whether it’s money, love, a home, a new pair of runners, a career you love or a healthy body.  It’s all in your reach once you release the need to focus on what is wrong or what is missing in your life.

That’s it, it’s that simple.

Clap Along If You Feel…

Posted in Live Your Passions

Few things make me happier on a summer’s day than being at one my local pristine, near-deserted beaches with my family.

IMG_9549

I love the sight of the crystal clear, aquamarine water, the feel of diving under the surface and being refreshed and invigorated by my favourite natural remedy, and hearing the sound of my children chatting happily together as they spot a fish darting away or wait for the next wave to ride in to the shore. I also enjoy seeing my husband emerge from the water smiling and relaxed, ready for a short walk up the beach with me while the kids play in the shallows.

This is summer holidays for us: mornings at the beach, swimming lessons in the ocean, the skate park, water slides, bakery morning teas, locally made ice-creams, fish and chips under peppermint trees by the bay and watching the local kangaroos make their daily pilgrimage to sip water from our bush-placed bird bath.

Now I don’t mean to boast, really I don’t, and of course you know there’s also the normal arguments, flat days, illnesses and mundanity that we all experience.  I’m simply describing what I’ve chosen for my life at this time and while many of you might be thinking; “yes, that sounds like a life I would like“, just as many will be saying; “how boring and unpleasant, I wouldn’t like to do any of that”.

My point is that at least five years ago I began refining my concept of what makes me happy and when we moved to this beautiful, nature-filled part of the world, my dream came true.  I live in a place I love – it feels like my spiritual home – and truly, all I did to get here was first, believe it was possible and second, allow life to guide me little by little to make it a reality.

We’ve now lived in our beach-side locale for three years and it’s become home for all four of us.

When I talk about wants and desires with my coaching clients there seems to be two main barriers that prevent them from talking openly and confidently about what makes them happy:

One – Not feeling they deserve to even ponder (let alone have) more joy, freedom, love, pleasure or prosperity in their lives.

Two – Not knowing in a clear sense what a happier life might look and feel like for them, perhaps as a result of subscribing for too long to what other people thought was good for them or allowing others to have what they liked in exchange for those people’s approval and support.

I need only cast my mind back seven years to recall how this feels.

When my children were aged five and three, I too had great trouble sorting through the complex network of thoughts and feelings that made up what I thought I needed in my life to make me happy.  I knew I wanted change and a new direction but it was a slow process to unpick the various personas I’d tried on for size since reaching adulthood to get down to the truth of who I really was and what brought me fulfillment and joy.

To be honest, it’s a process still unfolding, as it should be. After all, this life we have is not a journey with an ultimate destination, it’s an ever-evolving adventure where the more open we are to change and new opportunities, the more we get to truly be alive.

So how to start?

Ask yourself this question and write the answer down in as much detail as you can…

When I last found myself feeling free, relaxed, inspired and fulfilled, what was I doing?

Examine the elements that brought these feelings to you and seek them out again as soon as you can.  Keep doing this and you’ll attract more and more opportunities to be in that happy zone, like attracts like and happy breeds happy.

If you’d like some help and intuitive guidance from me with all this, take a look here and contact me for a free thirty minute phone coaching session before you book in.

When You Look at What’s Real, You Succeed

Posted in Live From Intuition, Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

Why oh why do we over-complicate life?

It’s the end of 2014 and I’m feeling aligned with this strong surge of energy to get organised, get moving and set plans in place to make the most of early 2015.

20141201_144544

In November I ran two sneak preview women’s healing dance classes at a great venue a short bike ride from my home.  I had a lovely response, people came along and they all seemed to connect with what I was offering.

So why is it that I’m wasting so much energy in pondering what time and day and even what venue to offer this class at on a weekly basis in the new year?  The obvious answer would be, the same time and the same place as the preview classes because they worked really well.  Yes Tricia, people came along and enjoyed it so why change?

It’s not our first instinct to keep it simple though is it?

My perfecting nature combined with my fear of success/self-sabotaging nature brings up all sorts of barriers and questions to prevent me from settling with the reality that the first and most obvious option is actually the best option for right now.

I go off into grandiose fantasies about what this dance class could be in the future if only I had the perfect schedule, venue or class program.  What’s real though is that I’m still at the beginning of this new venture and I need to allow myself a settling in time before it gets bigger and (possibly) better.

So thankfully, I’ve taken time to gather my thoughts before I launch into creating timetables and big plans for 2015.

Just slowing it all down and listening within can be of great help to us all when we are feeling confused or conflicted over a set of decisions.

Life/God/Universe/Spirit is always there with unfailing patience and love showing us the way via the unfolding of events, relationships, tiny little moments and our own physical senses, how we may move forward into greater fulfillment, joy and peace.

It’s really not as complicated as our all-too clever minds try to make it.

If you’ve worked yourself into a lather over the next step forward in your life and have no idea what choice would be best, go into a meditative state and ask yourself these four simple questions:

  • What am I really worried about?
  • What’s the outcome that I’m seeking and is it realistic?
  • Where is the evidence that what’s worked before will not work again?
  • If I knew the best option right now, what would it be?

This little technique will serve to return your emotions to a balanced state, allow for the intuitive self and the mind to work in cooperation, not competition and give you greater confidence in your own personal power to direct your path.

It’s not about avoiding trial and error or mistakes, it’s just about moving through it ALL more efficiently and gracefully because although there’s no finish line or summit to conquer, it’s more fun if we’re aligned with what’s real and true.

I’m now offering Inner Guidance Coaching in three, six and eight session packages here and you can pay with Paypal or your credit card. Take a closer look if you feel a resonance with my words.

Also, for those of you who read right to the end of the article, a FREE GIFT –  click here to listen to a free guided meditation by me to cleanse and activate your throat chakra energy.  Enjoy! <3

You Are Not What’s Happened to You

Posted in Live From Intuition, Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

In a couple of sessions with my beautiful clients this week I’ve found myself talking about the big versus the small view of our lives, well perhaps more our existence than our ‘lives’.

You know, the idea we are on this planet, a spiritual being having a physical experience for this finite time period and then, well then, who knows but I’ve got a feeling we continue to exist as spiritual beings beyond and indeed did prior to this lifetime we are currently in.

So if that’s true and hey, it’s just my belief, you are very welcome to register a skeptical facial expression right now…

Anyway, so I feel this is true and yet this life I’m having right now does feel very important, very absorbing and you know, I really identify with me as a person in this lifetime and all that I have experienced, not to mention all my dreams for the future.  So how do I put that all into perspective with regard to my belief that I am an eternal being not who but that will exist beyond this human life?

What I’m talking about here is living life from the viewpoint (the very liberating viewpoint I think), that what we know about the story of our time here in this current life is not the full story or the whole picture and that we have a bigger story, a more expansive existence that goes on beyond the comprehension of our limited human minds.

Now I’m not suggesting for a moment that our human lives here and now are not important or not to be revered and valued immensely, no, not at all.  We are certainly here to experience all that our souls very carefully set out to explore, discover, sense, feel, enjoy and endure when we made the choice to come and have this life.

What I’m hoping to elucidate (cool word), is that although we must take these lives of ours seriously enough that we engage, learn, relate, embrace, evolve and create as a direct result of all that we experience, perhaps from time to time, we could also take an imaginary step back from what we are feeling, suffering with, recovering from, catastrophising and even celebrating and realise…

This is not all there is to me, this is only my small story, I’m bigger and the infinite universe that is my true home is far bigger than this life event.

Phew, profound huh?

Wait, there’s more…

The things that have happened to me in this life have nothing at all to do with my inherent goodness as a divine soul, nor how I am loved beyond the stars and back again by the love energy that created All.

When we have the capacity to take this mental step back and view our lives from a more objective, less personal standpoint we are more likely to have the courage to chase our dreams, speak up for what we believe in and make choices that well, put simply, make us happy.  We are less likely to live in automatic pilot, put up with abuse from others or go on punishing ourselves with regret and guilt over past actions.

It’s all been happening for you, you can see that more easily when you take the BIG picture perspective. You’ve gained far more than what you may feel you’ve lost.  And ultimately, what it all boils down to is this:

You are loved

You are loved

You are love

That’s all <3

Feel The Fear but Don’t Let it Run Your Life

Posted in Live From Intuition, and Live Your Passions

Two whole years ago I launched a dance class for women in a community hall in my town.  I’d only been living here for six months when I began this bold new venture and to be completely blunt, it failed.

Sure, a few women turned up, I had some fun (in only slightly greater measure than the terror), and I met the most lovely and inspiring 73 year old woman who became a friend and meditation buddy.

I wrote this post: The Healing Power of Dance as I began this short but sweet journey in 2012

These feet just wanna dance!
These feet just wanna dance!

So, here I am again, I’ve booked the space, created a flyer and started publicising it in facebook.  In just under two weeks I’ll be leading a healing dance class for women in my little country town.

This time I have a much bigger network of contacts to invite, I am more in tune with my inner guidance and open to receiving spontaneous inspiration moment by moment AND I’m still scared.

The fear is with me every time I think about it, when I ponder the music selection and when I tell anyone about it.

And….I’m doing it anyway.  I’ve spent decades wanting to dance for a living and now, at the ripe-ish age of 44, it would seem, now is the time.

My message here is that we all have creative energy and for many of us, it’s our life’s work here on planet Earth to uncover, release and live that energy every day.

I haven’t achieved anything yet, my first women’s healing dance class is running on Saturday 22nd November at 8.00 in the morning (wish me luck).  And yet I feel proud and calm and certain that this time it will take off and fly and that I will be along for the ride with joy, passion and freedom.

In essence, feeling fearful about a new idea, project or business venture just means we care a lot about it and ourselves.  All that’s needed is baby steps.  Take that first step and see where it leads.  Don’t let fear stop you from trying because what I’ve discovered is the more we face our fears and move ahead anyway, the more daring we become.

Keep these three things in mind:

  • Our fears can also be our excitement
  • Our fears can be our ego/mind just trying to keep us safe
  • Fear is just another emotion that when acknowledged, blessed and felt, is then free to morph into another expression of who we are.

Our family holiday in Spain took me right out of my comfort zone and everything turned out great. What I took from that experience was that’s it’s safe to take risks and why not simply trust that it will all be okay?

Small success leads to bigger success

Oh and by the way, that friend of mine in her seventies, well she’s booked her place to dance with me on the 22nd.  Cool huh?

For some personal support and guidance with facing your fears make an appointment with me .  We can connect over the phone or on Skype at a time that suits you.

Blessings, Tricia

Create The Vision, Take Action, Repeat…

Posted in Create Abundance, Live Your Passions, and Trust The Universe

Here’s where I share some really useful information about manifesting your desired outcomes.

It seems to me there’s this complicated and intricate dance happening all around us every day.  Things happens that seems to be out of our control and to have nothing whatsoever to do with us. We react to annoying circumstances, accidents, illness and other people being awful as if to say;

“Hey!  That’s not fair! I was just minding my own business, I don’t deserve this.”

What I’m here to say is, pay more attention and realise that although we’re not supposed to take any of this’ life on planet Earth’ stuff personally, most of what you observe in your life has significance and meaning for you right now.

Every moment we devote attention to by expressing our reaction, opinion or emotions has a little message for us.  What we label as good, bad, happy or sad, the universe just sees as energy.

One step at a time
One step at a time

What we learn from these moments about who we really are and what we are unconsciously creating in our lives is what helps us move forward and become conscious creators of our reality.  And again, this isn’t just your personal journey I’m talking about.

When you shift and raise your vibration, everyone benefits.

You, as part of the whole are important and yes, vital to the overall flow of humanity’s evolution.

Sorry if that came as a shock.

So how do you create what you really want when you’ve got a long and glorious history of struggling to live what you thought was a ‘normal’ and ‘productive’ life?

It all starts with having a vision and then taking a step forward in your life that aligns you with the vision.  So before you quit your job or leave your partner, or both, work out what you would love to be doing every day of your life.  Our dream work is usually something we would do for free, something  we feel passionate about and makes our heart sing.

And don’t worry if right now you don’t know, because sometimes not having a clue what this might be is more perfect than having a narrowly defined goal.  You see, I began this process myself eight years ago and I’m still working out what it is I really truly want to do.  Every day I get a little closer and I’ve had an amazing time along the way.

When you’re not sure and you simply try something you’ve always wondered about, universe gets to gently guide you to what’s perfect for where you’re at right now.

When I went and studied kinesiology, I had no idea if I could do it, would like it or could create a practice in this field.  All I knew was I’d received a lot of benefit from being a recipient of kinesiology and it was a therapy I was very interested in learning more about. This was my vision and the action I took was to attend my first weekend training class. My work with individuals has evolved immensely since that first class but I know it was my right first step.

So the big CLUE here is, pay attention to what you see, hear, feel, sense, and react to in your life right now.  When you notice a little internal buzz of excitement at something before your eyes or ears, tune into your inner wisdom and ask, “Is this for me?”

When we act from that uplifting sense of enthusiasm, curiosity, interest or wonder, we know we’re on the right track.

For some personal help with clarifying what you’d really love to be doing in your life, take a look at my Book a Session with Tricia page and contact me for a chat.
